Mastering the Depths: A Comprehensive Guide to Operating the CHASING M2 S Underwater Drone

Welcome to the ultimate guide on operating the CHASING M2 S underwater drone. This tutorial will walk you through everything you need to know about setting up, connecting, and maneuvering your CHASING M2 S to make sure you get the most out of your underwater adventures.

Unboxing and Setup

Your CHASING M2 S package includes a variety of components:

  • CHASING M2 S drone
  • remote controller
  • power cord
  • 3-in-1 charger
  • GoPro mounting base
  • screws
  • EPP storage box
  • Chasing reel
  • support documents
  • o-rings
  • towel
  • motors
  • data cables
  • sunshade
  • flat rank

Begin by connecting the 3-meter cable to the reel and the remote controller, and then tighten the nut. Next, attach the buoyancy tether to the ROV, secure the buckle, and tighten it. With these connections complete, you’re ready to power on your equipment.

Connecting and Calibration

Turn on the remote controller by pressing the power button. You’ll hear three self-test sounds, and the indicator on the controller will light up, confirming a successful startup. Before diving in, download the Chasing Go 1 app from the App Store by scanning the QR code on your screen.

Use one of the included cables to connect your mobile phone to the remote controller or connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi. The default password for the Wi-Fi connection is a sequence of numbers from 1 to 8.

Once connected, open the Chasing Go 1 app and navigate to the ROV Calibration settings. Complete the accelerometer, compass, depth, and level calibrations by following the on-screen instructions. After calibration, restart your ROV.

Operational Commands

With your ROV ready, use the remote controller to maneuver the drone.

The right joystick controls vertical movement: pull back to descend and push forward to ascend. Lateral movements are controlled by pushing the right joystick left or right. The left joystick manages horizontal movement: push forward to move forward, pull back to move backward, and push left or right to rotate the ROV. Use the top left thumbwheel to adjust the pitch angle and the top right thumbwheel for the roll.

Advanced Features and Maintenance

The CHASING M2 S offers several advanced features. The 1-key reset button reorients the ROV to a horizontal posture, and long pressing this button activates the omni-directional mode. The left shoulder button allows you to take photos or record videos. Switching Wi-Fi frequency bands can help avoid signal interference, and an HDMI connection enables external screen viewing.

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. After using the ROV in high salinity or sediment-rich water, rinse it in fresh water.

The app also provides a maintenance guide. Additionally, firmware updates can enhance your ROV’s functionality. Connect to a network, download the firmware, and upload it to the ROV, which will restart automatically upon completion.

Battery and Motor Replacement

Battery replacement involves pulling up and rotating the locking knobs, removing the battery compartment, and inserting a new battery.

Ensure the components fit snugly and secure them with the locking knobs. For motor replacement, remove the battery compartment, disconnect the cables, and replace the motor by loosening and tightening the screws. Reconnect the cables to finish the process.

By following this comprehensive guide, you can confidently operate and maintain your CHASING M2 S underwater drone, unlocking new depths of exploration and capturing stunning underwater footage. Enjoy your underwater adventures with this versatile and powerful ROV!
